i was randomly on YouTube and i found this video from when i was growing up. the video was from a band that is no longer together called the Deviates. i was played drums in a band called Fisted Youth with some of these guys in this video - the fat dude on the lawn throwing a beer at the camera played guitar and the main character was our manager. we used to practice at the house where this was filmed at and also in the space that the band is playing in during the live shots. that practice space is hidden behind McDonalds on Amsler next to P.V. Bowl. the drum set in the video was also handed down to me so this video has a lot of memories behind it.
i looked up to these guys so much and was a cool to be able to hang with these guys before i could even drive. i was 15 and they were all at least 25. sometimes i'd get hassled playing shows at bars but everything would end up being fine. these guys were doing what i always wanted to do, they were living my dream - playing music for a living, playing Warped Tour, playing on Epitaph. like i said, the Deviates don't play anymore - i don't think any of them play music and they all most likely have day jobs. it's crazy how things change and people you look up to aren't even following the dreams they were living or once had themselves...
