SANYIKA 'MONSTER' SHAKUR

was reading J-BE@T$ BLOG and saw that Sanyika 'Monster' Shakur wrote a new book entitled T.H.U.G.L.I.F.E., i'd read his previous book Monster at my continuation highschool. Sanyika Shakur was the leader of the Eight Tray Crips, and the book is about his experiences. i definitely suggest everyone read Monster, and i have yet to read the new one, but i know it will be good.

ok, so i know this was already posted in regards to a few days back by my business partner and best friend OC$@R, but here are bigger images. you will also notice that Tommy Guerrero, Henry Rollins, and a few other names that a few posers or those who just jumped on the bandwagon (not just anyone reading this, but a few who know who they are, yes you) should get to know about. namely, someone said that i wasn't 'motivation' or 'support', but it seems like that person was wrong.

1). Motivation: it seems as though something motivates you to read every sentence, everything and every little detail on the blog, ShoutBox, and etc... i mean, sometimes i write things so hidden, minute, or vague just to prove the point that if you say you don't care to hear what i say, but i find it 'entertaining' that you end up scouring this blog 'obsessively' as you put it to 'hate' as you put it as well. remember?; 'obsessive haters'? all of this for your 'entertainment', i think that's a front.

2). Support: yes it is true, i don't support you or what it is 'you claim to do.' you need to be put in your place. you need to respect those who have been doing this longer than you and lastly, don't disrespect those who basically open you up to the things you claim to know all about now.

let me drop this, in fact, let us drop this because i am above the level that you are at pouting and 'whatever it is you claim to do'. i've been into this longer than you, wanted to do 'whatever it is i claim to do' longer than you, and i do it for the love. let me clarify, what i mean by being above the level you are on, is that i can be professional because to me, this is my profession, my love, my life, and generally; what makes me happiest to do, and ultimately what i aspired to do for the rest of my life. this is what makes me happy.

back to the main topic, this magazine that Mike Giant interviewed on features lots of key people in the industry or inspirational people. Tommy Guerrero and Henry Rollins are only 2 of the many people who have been doing this long before you or i, and only 'motivate' me to do what i love, for the love, and they are people we should 'support' because they have made it possible for me to do the things i love.

EVIDENCE @ THE FAST LIFE

Evidence stopped into THE FAST LIFE today. for those who don't know, Evidence is of The Dilated Peoples. also, this is the same guy who everyone confused with Buket the graffiti-artist who was busted earlier this year from appearing on WAR42 graffiti videos. basically, Evidence was in the intro before Buket's section giving a shout-out and all of the media and news stations blasted his image across every television screen and newspaper. it's funny how the media are always going through great lengths and hold correct information to a high regard, yet when it come to something they are unfamiliar with, they just assume. catch Evidence on tour this year.

Police arrest notorious graffiti tag artist Cyrus "Buket" Yazdani on felony vandalism charges this week in Los Angeles but inaccurate photos of the man in custody continue to circulate, appearing at the top of the hour newscasts on CBS 9, ABC 7, KTLA 5, NBC 4 and Los Angeles Times cover story due to newspaper mistakenly identifying Yazdani with an image of respected MC and Producer Evidence of Dilated Peoples

(Los Angeles, California - May 29, 2008) Los Angeles Detectives took Cyrus "Buket" Yazdani into custody this week on felony vandalism charges. The man who police describe as "one of Los Angeles' most prolific taggers" was habitual for videotaping his handiwork and uploading footage to the web. The well known local tagger became recognized globally when videos of him spray painting on a Hollywood Fwy overpass, with cars zooming by 20 feet below began ciruclating over the internet.

Dilated People's member Michael "Evidence" Perretta has been making noise on the underground hip-hop scene since the trio appeared in the late 1990's. In reference to the photo of the MC plastered across the front page of the Los Angeles Times and displayed hourly on various television newscasts depicting him as the arrested tagger Evidence says, "I only met Buket once when I was asked to do a promo for an internet show, however I'm obviously not him and find it humorous how the media didn't take the time to figure this out before running such an extensive story."

Evidence explains how he was approached by Yazdani over a year ago and asked to say a few promotional words on film. Unbeknowest to the celeb endorser his words would be edited and used as an introductory segment running prior to footage of Yazdani making his tag mark on the 101 Hollywood Fwy. The segment entitled "War 4" circulated on Youtube.com and was watched by over 500,000 viewers. Video images of Evidence were accidently pulled by the Los Angeles Times when Yazdani was taken into custody, thus mistakenly identifying the MC for the notorious tagger. The rapper explains, "In my line of work anytime someone asks me for a recorded or live video promo I'm always glad to do it. I have co-signed thousands of Internet, Radio and TV shows as well as various other forms of media. This could have happened to any entertainer, not just me."

Evidence has been a torchbearer and champion of underground hip-hop culture. He remains a positive identity within this often misrepresented and marginalized community. Raised in Venice Beach, California the former breakdancer has released four critically acclaimed and socially conscious albums alongside Dilated Peoples and last year had tremendous success with his solo debut The Weatherman. The songs tackled issues of politics and revolution as well as containing powerful tribute tracks to his mother. The celebrated MC has created his own unique blend of beats and rhymes making him a staple and respected figure on the current musical landscape. Evidence and Dilated Peoples have graced covers and appeared within the pages of Vibe, The Source, King, XXL, YRB, Vapors, Alternative Press, URB and XLR8R while his production work has included tracks for the Beastie Boys, Linkin Park, Swollen Members, Defari, Planet Asia and co- production on Kanye West's Grammy award winning album College Dropout.

Evidence says he wants this huge mistake cleared up and retractions made by the media. Meanwhile he is busy preparing for upcoming nationwide show dates during the "Fresh Rhymes & Videotape Tour" featuring Dilated Peoples, The Alchemist, Aceyalone and 88 Keys. The tour runs from June 2nd - June 29th and will hit all major cities.

almost exactly a year ago (November 14th 2007) marked the ending of SABER's 'World's Largest Graffiti" title. the piece pictured was done by the MTA crew and was said to be 3 times the size of Saber's. that's insane! it took Saber numerous days and nights to get up on his piece. oh shit!

THE BLACKBERRY STORM - RELEASED TODAY

so i have been hearing a lot about the BlackBerry Storm and how it released today. i keep hearing about how 'it is soooo much better than an iPhone.' well fuck, of course it is, the iPhone sucked/sucks. that's like saying: 'a Rolls Royce is soooo much better than a Pinto.' RIM, BlackBerry's manufacturer straight marketed this thing to take a shit on the iPhone and Verizon announced in a press release that they are faithful that the Storm will pull customers away from AT&T. basically, everything that the iPhone lacked is a feature on the Storm. this thing literally does everything the iPhone does and more, even iTunes on it. so, if you are unfortunate enough to have Verizon, go get this one, but if you have AT&T, go get the Bold. too bad the Storm looks so similar to an iPhone.

although the first half of stickers from the last vendor we are doing business with have arrived, we are still waiting for the second shipment/delivery. this second shipment/delivery is comprised of new colorways of our tag logo. i know everyone has been seeing people posting hits of our stickers online but those are crew only submissions and soldiers who have actually made their own.

i have become increasingly more busy working for a few different companies but either way, our stickers have not fully arrived yet! also, there has been a big delay in the production of our t-shirts but they will be produced eventually!

also, those who submitted requests for the survey, sit tight. one was made but we had a problem with the program that made the survey.

i did my part today and voted. this is my first time voting and well, lets just say that i have been eligible to vote for many, many years. i don't know why i had never voted before but i guess i didn't really feel passionate about it until now. again, those of you that know me would know that although politics are interesting, drama is drama and there are too many people (yes you) who feed off it. politics are like those people who you ignore but somehow find ways to stir things up and instigate so that you end up having to react (yes you).

anyways, by the time you are reading this; Obama won! i think this is a good thing and i believe that change is what we need. McCain's biggest mistake was the way he'd compose himself during the debates and how he spoke of his 'experience' and all of this 'maverick/joe the plumber' crap. McCain's treatment of Obama is a direct reflection of how he might treat a country we might be at war with; what would he do then; speak of how much more experienced he is than the leader of North Korea?

McCain repeatedly boasted of experience and years of service in the armed forces but the biggest problem is that because of all of what he boasts about, is concerned with war. his mind is focused only on war. years of captivity and being a P.O.W. at that most likely creates vengeance.

and what the fuck is Palin going to do for us? honestly?

i say that i am not political but here i am rambling on about politics, so this is where i stop.

but let me just say that i am happy that i voted and i am happy that change is in effect. look at where Bush got us! change is the least of what we needed and i am glad it has been brought about.

for California, where i lay at, Monday, October 20th is the last day to register to vote. now, this type of post isn't something that you'll often find on my blog and isn't even something that has ever been posted on my blog period, but it is becoming more and more important to vote this election year.

let me declare that i am not a very political person at all, in fact, i try to avoid all of that BS but all i can say is that i am political enough to know that i don't want McCain to win. in other words, we don't need another round of Bush, or another decade for that matter.
