L.A. MICKEY - ROUGH SKETCHES BY SL!CK

here are a few rough sketches of SL!CK's L.A. Mickey. i believe these sketches are pretty old and were used as concepts of the pieces he used for BLOC28 years back. of all the artists who have ever recreated Mickey for BLOC28, i've always liked SL!CK's version the best.

RAYMOND PETTIBON - 'I THOUGHT CALIFORNIA WOULD BE DIFFERENT'

in celebration of the 2008 California Biennial (CB08), numerous LA native artists were asked to contribute pieces of art to hang on large building around LA. Raymond Pettibon, most famous for illustrating the artwork for Black Flag albums and flyers was one of the artists asked to be a part of this project. Pettibon decided to submit his artwork for 'I Thought California Was Different'. most will recognize Pettibon's artwork for one of Black Flag's best albums Everything Went Black. it is nice to see that people want to pay tribute to those who are less known now. this project is very similar to the project in San Francisco in which Upper Playground artists and photographers were asked to make light flags to hang across the city. artists involved in that included Jeremy Fish, Estevan Oriol, Usugrow, and many more. look for Pettibon and the other artists pieces around LA.

yes i know. this is really old news and you have probably already seen this but i am still catching up on things.

the good homie, CHASE TAFOYA, sent in this crazy dope deck into the DSTROYR HQ. Chase is the same artist who made the sketch/t-shirt design/concept posted above for our crew. Chase does some of the sickest artwork i've seen in sometime and is one of the nicest guys you will meet. Chase is an artist that i consider one of the best that you have not heard of yet, and it will only be a matter of time before he becomes a household name.

BLOC28 EVENT COVERAGE

BLOC28 have just wrapped the exhibition up on November 16th. the event was held at The Continental Gallery in LA. this is one of the best shows all year and happens every year. this is one of the few shows you don't want to miss, try to make it out next year...
